The studio is in line with the Venice Biennale of Art 2024, whose theme is entirely included in its title “Foreigners Everywhere”.
Culture remains one of the best ways of opening up to the world in all its diversity. Architecture, however, has its own means of action and expression, and it is these means that should be explored here.
The exercise will focus on the notions of limits, thresholds, boundaries and crossings.
The ability of a place to establish connections with its environment will be explored through a program centered on a library and extended to functions as reception, training and meeting spaces for foreign populations in a working-class district of a metropolis (Paris, France) – referring to the Idea Store concept, experimental structures developed in London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the 2000s, of which David Adjaye’s project in Whitechapel remains the most outstanding example.
The program may also be adapted to take full advantage of the site’s potential, with the aim of supporting the surroundings.
