VU // HB2 involves the simultaneous development of architectural, structural, and building construction aspects within an architectural design, ranging from typological conception through structural analysis to the detailed design of building construction.
Through the development of innovative structures, structural designs, and detailed drawings, students work on solving a complex building project. In addition to structural and building design—and taking into account prefabrication and constructability—the focus is on a coherent energy and building services design, as well as cost-conscious and resource-efficient planning.

Methods

VU // HB2 utilizes discussions of course content in (partially interdisciplinary) project meetings, accompanying lectures. Video material featuring interviews with experts, independent work on a design assignment. Development of plans at all scales relevant to building construction and/or a spatial model.
