This design studio explores the future of large-scale orbital space structures,
\nmoving beyond existing reference solutions toward next-generation
\nspace architecture. The central question is: How can large space structures
\nbe designed as modular, expandable, adaptable, and sustainable systems,
\nthat can be assembled and operated in orbit?
\nGiven current challenges\u2014launcher constraints, assembly complexity,
\nspace debris, and limited scalability\u2014the studio investigates Design for
\nAssembly and Disassembly, transferring modular strategies from terrestrial
\narchitecture to the space environment. Following an intensive research
\nphase, students work in teams to develop visionary yet physically grounded
\nmission scenarios.
\nKey areas of exploration include: modular and expandable orbital systems
\n| structural and mechanical connector concepts | in-orbit assembly strategies
\n| design development.<\/p>\n
