Folded load-bearing structures are surprisingly strong and curved folds can contribute to the stiffening of surfaces. The geometry of unfoldable surfaces folded along a curve has not yet been fully explored in mathematics. However, there are a few simple geometric concepts that can be designed using CAD software.<\/p>\n<p>This design is about how to use these methods to design a small architectural project. Can we go beyond design to address sustainability conceptually by addressing grey energy components thematically and visualising them in the context of a small project?<\/p>\n<p>Students will produce working models and prototypes that address issues in digital fabrication after two workshops. Group work of 2 to 4 students is allowed. Paper and cardboard models will be produced by laser cutting.
