HYBRID URBAN STRUCTURES
\nArchitecture as a variable spatial structure in the city of tomorrow<\/p>\n

The historically developed European city is hybrid. It is characterised by a mixture of living and working, culture and leisure. Where people work during the day, they party in the evening, offices are converted into flats and vice versa, public space forms the basis for living together. This distinguishes them from one-dimensional urban structures outside Europe.<\/p>\n

Questions on the topic
\nIs this diversity of possibilities an opportunity for the city of the future? What potential can be utilised for the further development of our cities? What developments can buildings allow\/favour and what decisive role does architecture play in this? What contribution can robust and changeable spatial structures, different specific and defined areas and the arrangement of interchangeable neutral spatial modules make to this?<\/p>\n

Location\/programme\/focus
\nTwo plots are available for development: Paris – Austerlitz and Vienna – Margareteng\u00fcrtel. The spatial programme is to be developed at a tolerable density, taking into account the local programmatic requirements and aiming for a combination of living, working and leisure. Within the building structure with different spans and room heights for variable use, areas for events, teaching, sports and shops, work, as well as living with views and terraces are to be provided.<\/p>\n

An innovative structural and building construction concept incorporates energy and building technology. Resource-conserving planning, the conscious use of specific and reusable materials as well as structural design through to detailed structural engineering accompany the concept in all phases.<\/p>\n
