Anne Démians
Architecture: a political art
Anne Démians is an architect and designer and founded her office in 2003. Together with an interdisciplinary team, she is dedicated to the design and construction of projects of different typologies and with different programmes.
She is also involved in theoretical projects that develop new forms of construction and functional arrangements (Immeuble à Destination Indéterminée – buildings with an indeterminate purpose), as well as alternative models on an urban planning level. She is also part of various research groups, including those on sustainable development and spatial planning, such as the RT 2025-2050 research project in line with the Plan Bâtiment Durable (Sustainable Building Plan).
Anne Démians is co-founder of the FOC (Force d’Optimisation Culturelle – Cultural Optimisation Force), an elected member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the Institut de France since 2021 and a member of the board of the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine. She was awarded the Women Architects – Original Work prize in 2013.
Between 2011 and 2022, she was a professor at the University of Paris-Dauphine-PSL and previously a visiting professor and associate professor at the Ècole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris between 2002 and 2009.
