michael moser 'resonant cuts' //

vortrag im rahmen der HB2 Media Lab Lecture Series 2011: Method / Perception / Vision

The exhibit room in all it's aspects - plan / proportion / volume / acoustics - serves as the basis for defining a variable. The used materials - glas, metall, transducer - are the constant. The sightspecific aspect of the installation is preserverd. Similar to Gordon Matta-Clark's cuts through buildings this installation uses 'acoustic cuts' to generate new perspectives and contexts. The surfaces serve as speakers and designed space-defining components alike. Through the merging of existing architecture and architectural intervention, which at the same time is a sounding object, the seperation of visual and sound design is suspended. The result is a unity of Space (architecture), material (surface-objects) and sound.
