In 1941, entrepreneur and inventor Villum Kann Rasmussen had the idea of transforming dark attics into living spaces full of daylight and fresh air. His first skylight was patented in 1942. He named it with a distinctive name that brought out the main advantages of his solution: "VE" short for ventilation and "LUX" for light = VELUX.
The VELUX system consists of a wide variety of skylight solutions for both pitched and flat roofs, along with associated products such as decorative and solar shading products, external roller shutters, flashings and installation products for perfect and easy installation. The extensive VELUX range brings daylight, fresh air and an unobstructed view under the roof and gives these rooms a unique atmosphere.
