The Czech Centre Vienna belongs to the network of Czech Centres, which operate in 20 countries worldwide on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Our aim is to engage with the public of the host country in dialogue and to support the presentation of the Czech Republic in the fields of culture, education, commerce and tourism. A particular focus is on the placement of Czech artists and projects to local cultural institutions. The Czech Centres are part of the European Union National Institutes for Culture EUNIC and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
The Czech Centre Vienna was opened in 1994, in the city center, close to Imperial Palace and Burgtheater and is in dialogue with the Austrian public and media landscape. Both in the capital and the provinces, we organize our own events (including exhibitions, lectures, discussions, concerts, movies) or collaborate with cultural institutions to present the Czech Republic as a modern and dynamic country with a rich culture. We offer rooms for presentations for Czech companies. At our Info Point in the foyer, we offer basic information about excursions, trips and courses into the Czech Republic.
Since 2012, supervised and supported the Czech Centre Vienna events with some Czech artists in Switzerland.
The Czech Centre Vienna is a founding member of EUNIC Austria.
